The ebook has a couple of good (simple) examples of how to use SPICE. For example, this simple netlist:

    simple circuit
    v1 1 0 dc 24
    r1 1 0 5
    .end

The author remarks (in the reference manual) that "All options and examples have been tested on SPICE version 2g6 on both MS-DOS and Linux operating systems. As far as I know, I'm not using features specific to version 2g6, so these simple functions should work on most versions of SPICE." However, the above netlist doesn't seem to work with spice3.

What would you have to do to get it to work? Is there a simple tutorial out there for doing things in spice3? Everything I've encountered (except these ebooks) seems to assume you're a super genius and that you already understand the deepest mysteries of electronics. I'm trying to learn, and I have spice3 running, but I just can't figure out how to do simple things with it.
