special simulation models

    Hi,

    I know somethings about worst case analysis,Monte carlo analysis.
    I do these simulations using standard spice models available in Library.
    What i know is the simulation tool will vary the component parameters automatically during these analysis and gives the results.

    My question is , do we get special models like Monte carlo models/worst case simulation models separately?
    Means models which have more/special variations in its parameters compared to standard models.

    Do manufacturer provides these kind of models?

    I have never seen any from manufactures. Depending on what you want to vary you might look at the .step command. Keep in mind each step is another simulation so it will slow things down.

    Hi ronv,

    I use SABER tool for simulation.
    In that i use generic resistor available in library itself.
    These resistors have option of adding resistance value with tolerances.
    So during Monte carlo analysis, tool will vary resistance to full range and gives us the result. Thats fine.

    But what about when using transistor,opamp etc.?
    I use already available spice models(from manufacturer) for these parts.

    So how the tool simulates these parts?I believe spice models will have only constant/fixed parameter values(no range of values).

    Am i suppose add tolerances for all these parameters manually?

    Hi ronv,

    I got it.
    Resistor value we can vary(because i know its only one parameter).
    But what about transistor,opamp etc?

    Because transistor has so many parameters. I know mainly about Vce,Vbe,Ic,Ib,Hfe etc. So i can specify these things.
    But what about other parameters? Am i suppose to specify all other parameters with different steps/tolerances?

    How do i know which parameter will affect transistor performance during simulation?
