I need to create sparks with a bunch of 1.5v d batteries so I can ignite some oxyhydrogen gas. My idea is to convert the dc into ac and feed it into a transformer. Then I would put the two wires close together and hope for sparks. Would this work alright or are there better ways to do this?

any reason you don't just use an off the shelf piezo grill lighter available at any hardware store... takes batteries and makes sparks
