Hi,
This won't do for a class problem. The diode has 100 volts peak across it, so just about anything above that will do. Diodes are cheap, so I always go for double the expected reverse voltage. Something like a 1N4003 - 1 amp @ 200 volts - will do the thing with room to spare.
