Solving a equation

    Any help with the problem below will be much appriciated.

    The approximate solution that satisfies the boundary conditions is:

    So we have this integral:

    Initially, for no deflection, for w = 0, the value of λ from the above equation, is found as:

    I can not understand, how λ is calculated.
    This is the qustion, how λ is calculated?

    I would suggest you read the sticky about posting questions here. I'm not going to open a .doc file but I would open a .pdf file.
