Soldering equipment

Hi guys,

Can soldering iron works without soldering station? Instead of plugging soldering iron to soldering station, can I just connect the soldering iron to socket in the wall?

If yes, what are the disadvantages of doing so?

If the soldering iron is intended to be plugged into a soldering station, then bad things will probably happen if you plug just the iron directly into the wall socket.

That's about as good an answer as you can hope to get unless you give much more detailed information. Surely you don't think that ALL soldering irons and ALL soldering stations are going to be the same in this regard. If that's what you thought, then now you know that they aren't.
