Help!
How can I make a soldering controller for a 80-120 watt iron using a light dimmer and recpticle.

Get a screw-in adapter that makes a lamp socket into an ungrounded outlet if the dimmer hasn't got an outlet built in.

 

My dimmer has two black wires, and mounts like a wall switch or outlet.Dimmer should come with a diagram. Mount control & single or dual outlet in a metal handy box, a cover with a switch position and dual outlet are available.With a dual outlet you can have an always hot & a controled outlet. There may be a strap between contacts on outlet, cut or remove narrow side. Connect wide plug to wide slot with white wire[ # 14 or larger], Black wires to narrow plug & slot.
