Ken I just called that company you gave a link to tech support. Great support! They said no I couldn't use it. I had to stick with AC or DC .... which i was assuming anyway.

I have a computer power supply from a 7 yr old Hp desktop i had considered using. Do those power supply's convert to DC? If so what generally is the output?

I found this if need be.

You're right, it should have been AC. But things are getting confusing, as you are looking at a 48VDC fan. Where is the power for that coming from? If you're picking it to run off of solar charged batteries, you need to think through you whole plan. https://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2009121013004833&item=16-1256&catname=

If you're just going to run "a fan" from a thermostat, and you have access to 110vac, lets pick components for that.

And looking back at the thermostat and your description:
He said to hook up the RH ( which is the Heater vAC)
and the Y for the Air Compressor switch and leave the rest with out anything hooked up.
Where does an air compressor come in?

http://highperformancehvac.com/thermostat-wiring-colors.html It looks like the control wire through the thermostat should be R and W. Do you have a multimeter to see if thers contacts open an close with temp change. An the contacts in thermostats are relatively small and are not designed to switch fans on directly, that's why you need a relay.

So where's the photo of your solar furnace?

People can probably suggest much better improvements to your whole system than just discussing fan choices.
