Hello.
I want to design a reactive power compensator. Consider a choke coil whose pf is 0.8 lag. I'll connect a capacitor whose pf is 0.5 lead. If the capacitor is connected parallel to the choke coil (resonant frequency is not the matter here), the combined pf will be leading. So, i want to control the charging current of the capacitor through a triac.
Now my doubt is, a snubber is required to protect the triac for inductive loads. Do i need a snubber in this situation? If so, what kind it is?
