I want to build a *Variable Output SMPS* (small scale w/ 2A output)

Please post a links/ tips/ STEP-by-STEP procedures in making this kind of ckt.

Go to National Semiconductor's site, and download their datasheet for an LM117/LM317.

Look at the top of page 18. There is a schematic for building a low-cost 3A switching regulator using very few components.

 

If you really want a SMPS, as opposed to linear regulator, try one of the packaged ICs. There are several in the low-power range, such as "Simple Switcher." You might also consider the MC33167/MC34167. The datasheet includes typical application circuits. John
