In Volume IV -- Digital, you do a fine job of discussing Flip Flops, but there's a disconnect when you go on to discuss Shift Registers. You mention that they're constructed from flip flops, but there's no demonstration of how that's done. For this to be a comprehensive course, there needs to be a section on how to use flip flops to construct various types of shift registers--with diagrams.

 

The intro chapter says that FFs are used in shift register construction, but not exclusively. That's why there isn't a schematic including FFs.

In the next chapters, that describe each register separately, there are schematics where the FFs interconnections are displayed.
