This electronics board from a SIEMENS valve actuator motor, part of the track has melted and part of it raised.

The components soldered to this track or components adjacent to these components check out ok.

 

What caused the excessive current? Does the valve actuator motor have partially fused windings, or was it overheating?

You might try soldering jumper wires over the melted traces. Try to avoid overheating the SMD's.
Hard to say what the device is near to X1, but I suspect it's a diode.

 

I was just given the boards to be repaired. Have not contacted a live test, yet.

Correct, that component is a diode with the cathode side facing the red line.
