Scripted text replacement

    I'm generating a large amount of scripts: currently 14 and lots more to follow. They get used twice, but use different symbols each time. I have a list of all the replacements where "AB-2" matches to "XY-33."

    Even notepad.exe could handle the search and replace, but due to the large quantity of files and symbols I'd like to hand some program the file and the substitution list and let it have at it.

    Sure I could write something to do this but is there some piece of freeware out there with this capability?

    I think BkReplaceEm and Textpad can handle this...

    How about a macro recorder? You can then even use notepad.exe
