    hi spike,
I may be wrong but I believe that non isolated mains circuits contravenes AAC site T&C's.????

The thyristor will turn on when the ldr resistance increases as the daylight reduces, depending on the Vgk of the thyristor, usually 1.5v. Note the output voltage will be half wave 120v pulsed dc, i would use a Bridge Rectifier instead of a single diode.

    Hi E
It is only a excerise to see if that circuit works , if I was to put it to use I would of course enclose / encase / isolate it from human touch to IP 5/6 , but off course I can just delete the thread ! .

Restricted topics. The following topics are regularly raised however are considered "off-topic" at all times and will result in Your thread being closed without question:

    • Any kind of over-unity devices and systems
    • Devices designed to electrocute or shock another person
    • LEDs to mains
    • Phone jammers

    • Transformer-less power supplies
Could it be the last item ( Transformer-less power supplies ) ! .
