    Pointy arrows can mean anything. Maybe they though they pointed towards Earth. The word UP might have helped.

    Not really. I get packages delivered by UPS with the UP arrow pointing sideways.

    When I read the title, I immediately thought of this proton accident in Russia. Old but facinating. Apparently the wrong kind of 'proton'.

    I didn't even know there was a wiki page about this! It was a story a researcher at the Brookhaven synchrotron loop told me about.
