    Hello everyone,

In the last months I have been often working with RS232 and emulated RS232 port trough USB (CDC Class).

I have developed an application called RS232 Terminal to overcome some limitations of HyperTerminal and TeraTerm, such as sending data in hex format, auto sending, and data parsing.

I have released the software, leaving the user the rights to use it for personal and commercial applications.
To make it more international the documentation is in English.

The released version is 1.0.0 (beta)
...there is a lot of room for new features...
I have already a to do list myself.

I hope it can be as useful as it is to me.

I'm looking forward your feedback for improvements.

    Regards,

    Mauro

    Hello,

little update, the new version 1.0.1 is now available.

    RS232 Terminal

The most important change is related to the .NET Framework, the one to be used is now 4 instead of 3.5. This solved some issues that some users encountered having multiple .NET framework installed.

    Regards,

    Mauro

    Hello everyone,

The new RS232 Terminal version 1.1.0 is now available for Download:

    RS232 Terminal

The new version has new features to customize the interface and make it more user/application friendly.

Details can be found within the History from the Help menu.

New features will be implemented soon...next "sprint" in one week.

    I'm looking forward your feedback.

    Ciao,

    Mauro

    you are welcome,
keep in mind that this tool can be useful for emulated USB or better USB devices that use the CDC class (Communication Device Class) in which the RS232 emulation is described.

    Ciao,

    Mauro

Your terminal would be much more helpful for embedded debugging if user can select to display bytes in different format, simultaneously in separate column.

    Just a suggestion.

    Hello Chung,

your suggestion is actually a good point, I will add it to the to do list.
Probably is not required having all the options, I do think that hex with ASCII would be enough.

    Thanks for your feedback,

    Ciao,

    Mauro

    Hello everyone,
I have released the version 1.2.0, with new features.
The main ones are the possibility to manually change the Handshaking signals and monitor their events.

You can download the last version from :

    RS232 Terminal

    Note:
Not all the features on the to do list are implemented.
I expect the next sprint to end for October 16th.

    Ciao,

    Mauro
