First, consider the SP4T switch. It needs five contacts. One for each of the four settings or "throws". The last is a common connection which is switched to one of the other four, depending on the rotation of the switch. Often, this common contact is close to the center if the switch.

Understand so far? Then just double the contacts for the other pole of the double pole switch. So 5 contacts becomes 10 contacts.
