Could you be just a tiny bit more specific?

The design concept is to perform mechanical tasks faster, safer, and more efficiently than a human operator.

Can you be more specific? This is a very broad subject that means different things to different people. The concept is to do a human-like task without a human.
Big Japanese trend in robotics is in manufacturing. Replacing human workers with robots that work 24/7 and don't have sick children problems.

Not only Japanese, many manufacturing plants around the world use them, the automotive industry in N.A. for instance use them for such as loading-unloading CNC machines replacing human operators, spot welding body parts etc, one thing the manuf like is they work through lunch breaks etc.;)
    Max.
