Research About Transformers

    In one mini project, a student requires to use a 110 Vac single-phase voltage supply to run his circuit from available single-phase voltage supply of 240 Vac. The circuit may draw a current not more than 8 A.

    So it would appear this "student" needs a 240V to 110V (120V) transformer with a minimum 8A rating at the mains frequency. Those are sold by most transformer manufacturers. If you don't need isolation between the primary and secondary, an autotransformer with this rating would be the cheapest.
