There will be a series of questions coming from me in the future with regards to this project im undertaking. Right now im in the research stage of this project and im looking into something that seems strange.
I was speaking with my lecturer who mentioned solenoid valves that can be operated by SMS or text message transmissions.
Is there such a thing ? So far i havent had much luck finding anything like this, maybe there is someone out there who knows of such a device ?

does he mean that, you send a text message, and it will open the solenoid?

 

Ideally, yes. You can send a text message to a solenoid to either open(pull) or close (push)

 

ahh right, so youd send the sms to the GSM/GPRS module, which would then tell uP, and then open the solenoid =]
