hello to all, im just wondering if anyone could advise me on how to interface a 24v failsafe electric lock through a relay.
the lock is to be fitted to a automatic door, i have a 24volt power supply for the lock, a relay and 0volt pair from the automatic door.
how do i connect the 24v supply, relay and lock and the switch it using the 0 volt pair from the door.

It would help a great deal if you could provide more information about this failsafe lock, such as manufacturer and model number.

The EL402 product flyer (datasheet) is available here: http://mpc.assaabloy.com/lockwoodfile/Fetchfile.aspx?id=1635&dl=1

I extracted just the electrical schematic portion:

Here is one way that you might wire it up:

Close S1 to enable lock switching.
Press S2 to momentarily unlock the lock.
If it is desired to keep the door unlocked for longer periods of time, you may wish to put a SPST switch in parallel with S2.
Note that there is no fuse shown; however I suggest that the fuse be placed in the +24v line.

Rocky140,
I have no clue why you posted what you did; it has very little in common with the original poster's question.
