I'm hoping to start playing around with some RF this summer (probably 300m perhaps 10m and, if I make a lot of headway, perhaps 2m) and want to get somewhat prepared by getting some supplies that I probably will need but don't have in my current stash of stuff. The first thing that comes to mind is that I am going to be winding some coils and transformers and antennas and such and so I am going to need appropriate enameled wire. What size(s) should I get so that I should be able to most of the things I will need to do. Along the same lines, what types of forms/cores should I stock up on?
What other parts should I look at getting to add to my non-RF parts bag?
Should I get some variable capacitors? Or should I plan on making my own?
