At what frequency does an RC high pass filter attenuate by 6dB? What is the phase shift at that frequency?

I have the general idea down, but I'm not quite sure how to proceed solving this. I'm brand new to electronics so any help is greatly appreciated

You need to show YOUR best effort to solve YOUR homework. If you have the general idea down, then use that to do the best you can and show your work. We will then be in a much better position to offer hints and suggestions.

Are you sure? Remember, the question asks about 6 dB, not 3 dB.

Am I looking for an exact number here or a conceptual answer? I don't want it solved for me, I'm just looking for a nudge in the right direction.

You are looking for an answer in terms of R and C.

Good. If you want to indicate what you came up with, we can tell you if you got it or not.
