i have to create a time delay circuit for a +/-10vdc cycle thru zero in about 1 minute. i have a BK Precision 4011A that gives me a minimum of 0.5 Hz. So, I need to delay this 4011 to 1 minute cycles. 555 and what size of C? and what size pot roughly? thanks.

    HI hobeycat
any particular reason your going with a signal generator, when a 555 on its own would do this.

reading your post again, is this a sine wave?

we test the spring rate of rubber in helicopter bearings. our original function generators create +/-10vdc thru zero with a ramp signal for a cycle of 1 minute for the spring rate tests. then our dynamic tests are from sine waves of the same amplitude of +/-10vdc thru zero.

Are you looking for a ramp/sawtooth-, triangle- or sine-wave generator circuit? What's the load that it's driving?

i think what you are looking for is a frequency divider i dont know if the 555 can do this,or if a divider works with an analogue sine wave as they are normally digital
im a bit of a newbie, hopefully the experts can tell us,
    good luck
