    The answer is 0.9 A not 0.5 A ( that mean all answers in this question will be wrong )
    I'm sure from my answer

    see the circuit

    this is your circuit Ok

    now calculate I ( total current)
    Ra=(6*2)/(6+2)=1.5 Ω ; Rb=(2*2)/(2+2)=1 Ω ; Re=Ra+Rb=2.5 Ω
    I=9/2.5=3.6 A

    by divider rule
    i1=(2/(6+2))*3.6 = 0.9 A
    now
    V1=i1*6= 0.9*6=5.4 v
    V2= 9-V1 = 9-5.4 = 3.6 v
    i3=3.6*2=1.8 A

    now apply KCL
    i1=i3+i0
    i0=i1-i3=0.9-1.8=-0.9A
    that is mean, direction of i0 must be in opposite direction only but its value 0.9 A

    you can also sure from this answer by apply mesh method
