Hi

What`s the idea of controlling the fan - just turning it off when the temp is acceptable?

I measure the voltage on load where the fan should be connected and it was Null.

I am thing about desoldering this small board and solder the fan direct to the board.

What do you think ?

:)

Most computer fan controllers these days use PWM for proportional control, not just on/off control. Picture?

To keep the room quieter and to save energy (and prolong battery life) the onboard temp sensor and control logic turns fan on to the required speed.

GopherT i guess you are talking about notebooks

This is desktop PSU.

if you watch the first picture where the 2 pins are connected to the board this connection is not healthy. Maybe that is the reason there is no voltage on the point where the fan should be put.

I think i will trash this board and put the fan direct? It will blows always and that`s that ? :)

No, I am talking about all modern PCs. Your PC should give you an error message on startup if your fan is not working. It briefly tests current draw on the CPU fan and an error message is generated, displayed briefly then shuts down the PC.

If your fan is on a PSU, it can likely be plugged directly ( based on the looks/age of the board).
