how many ir leds can a 555 ic drive at 38 khz, astable mode. we are using 5 tsop and circuit becomes very complicated if 5 different 555 ics are used for 5 ir led .

You have not mentioned the specifications of your IR LEDs or what Vcc you are using.

You could simply use transistor or MOSFET driver(s) for the LEDs.

Hello,

What is the exact data of the IR leds?
What is the power supply voltage?
You can always use a transistor or a mosfet as a buffer for the leds.

A 38kHz TSOP IR receiver IC will reduce its gain when it receives continuous 38kHz IR pulses. The datasheet explains that the 38khz must be in "bursts" which is groups of 38kHz pulses and it says how many pulses in each burst. Use a second 555 to make the bursts by gating the 38kHz oscillator on and off.
