i have certain queries regarding the project assigned by my supervisor.i am working on a project in which i require to detect output pulses having square waveform and of duration in nano seconds.he suggested me to use monostable multivibrator circuit consisting of two transistors and a couple of resistors and a capacitor in order to achieve high frequency.plz help me out regarding this.if anyone have worked out on this plz brief me.

 

Perhaps you could use a 555 timer as a monostable, (one-shot). It requires only the 555 and a few other components.

 

The circuit you are talking about reminds me of an old discreet component flip-flop. Unless there is some overriding reason to go with that circuit, something like a high speed voltage comparator would be pretty good. Look at the data sheet for the Linear technologies LT1016 - http://www.linear.com/pc/productDetail.jsp?navId=H0,C1,C1154,C1004,C1012,P1225 - and see if it might do the trick.
