I am tinkering with an idea...
I would like to build a simple device for measuring very short short expansions in a metal object. A 12 bit resolution is enough and the only thing I need to see is the PEAK value.
I want a strain gauge with a three wire connection to a wheatstone bridge connected to some kind of suitable instrumentation amplifier and the feed the signal to a fairly high speed ADC.
I can't find any recommendations on resistor values for the bridge. The strain gauge is a 120 ohm manganin gauge.
Any ideas how to choose the optimum resistor values and also how to extract the peak value from the signal???
