Q1: i2c bus master controller

    Hi,

    anybody pls tell me wat is the advantage of implementing of i2c bus master using VHDL??

    If you need to communicate with a peripheral device that has an I2C port it seems like an obvious thing to do. If you don't have any peripherals with I2C interfaces to connect the FPGA to, then I would agree that it is a complete wast of time and gates.

    This question seems pretty funny to me. No background or anything. The advantage of implementing it at all is that you have it, but then again you mention VHDL, which makes me wonder if you have anything else in mind for comparison? Are you perhaps thinking of steering it using software over GPIO?
