Hello

I am a total newbie on this and need to learn about the connectors.

I have found out quite a lot at http://boardtoboardconnectors.com/ but I have a question. If I have two boards, can I attach a male header on one board and then just solder the pins onto the other board. I need to know what problems this will give compared to buying a mating connector. I know my method is cheaper which is good. Has any one ever tried this before or should I start slower. Cost is quite a big factor as I'm a student

Thanks

Are you considering just soldering the header to both the upper and lower board?

You could definitely do that, although you lose the ability to easily separate the two boards, which could slow down troubleshooting the boards.

Hi

Both excellent suggestions. I'm hoping my app. will be fixed and soldered in! I'm looking for it to be a throw away product after a few years as they'll be so cheap to make!

Thank you for your help
