Hi guys, I have build a 40khz ultrasonic transmitter and receiver circuit. Now I need to obtain the time taken for the signal received by the receiver circuit from the transmitter. What kind of counter circuit can I use to measure the time? I would really appreciate some help.

Have you considered a microController(uC)?

You can use the timing function to measure the time-of-flight of the ultrasonic signal. This method will allow for easy transfer of the received time to a computer or display with minimal part count.

you could accomplish that with a BASIC Stamp from parallax pretty easily - and as a bonus PBASIC is as easy a language as you can use.

can you tell us about the signal voltage level the device outputs?
