Hi All, I am a newby to the forum and am trying to build a basic prototype board using an 18pin pic chip 16f84a, I was after some ideas regarding my master clr reset switch and the specs for my RC clock.
Thanks

I'd suggest using a resonator or crystal over an RC clock.

I have a generic schematic/artwork for a 28 pin PIC protoboard, I just need to find it.

For the reset , I use a 1k pullup on the !MCLR pin, and a 100 ohm resistor to ground through a momentary switch.

Crystal or resonator betwen Osc1 and Osc2 with 2 20pf caps to ground for the crystal, or the center pin of resonator grounded.

There's room for a RS232, quad half driver IC, and LCD as well, but not always used. I try to drill as few holes as possible, usually just the IC and resonator, then surface mount for the rest..

Route all the unused Ports to the edge at 0.1" spacing so they can be used in a solderless breadboard once headers are added. Kinda like making a giant Basic Stamp I...
