Pros and cons of SMD over through hole

    Can anyone help me out the pros and cons of using SMD based components instead of through hole which we are now trying to
    switch in our SMPS based UPS.
    Any books please specify

    From my experience ---

    SMD components are less expensive.
    SMD components take up less board space and storage (lower costs).
    With the exception of pin-grid arrays State-of-the-Art components are produced
    only in SMD.

    Also for larger SMD components (passives > 0603, lead pitch >=0.5mm) I find it easier
    to hand assemble than TH. No leads to cut. You are not flipping the board as often.

    SMT is far superior than through hole technology.
    Main advantages are:
    Fewer unwanted RF signals effect.
    Less cost in general.
    Better vibration performance.
    Lower resistance and inductance at the connections great for higher freq.
    Double sided boards.
    Much higher number of components on one board.
    Fewer holes per board.
    Manual handleing difficult for repair or prototyping.
    Cannot use breadboars.
