I am wondering if there are any IDE or programming enviroments other then visual studio's that one can uses to develop visual basic , c# , and .NET applications

From my understanding the current developing enviorments for these languages are visual studio's (express ,...etc editions), microsoft offices products (word ,excel ,...modules,..etc) , and mono developer (to some extent).

I am wondering if there are any others out there currently and if they are free for visual basic , c# ... probably not sinces these are microsoft specific languages

Basically more worried about not the editor part I can uses notepad or anything but more concerned on the freeness of compilers/interperters to build/run the visual basic or c# or microsoft based languages?

I would recommend sticking with the Microsoft offerings as they are well debugged and also there are lots of examples online.
