There is a Horizon documentary from 1978 on BBC iPlayer called Now The Chips Are Down. Makes interesting watching, seeing them design ICs on paper then manufacture them back in the old days. Not sure if it is available outside the UK.

NCR wichita was involved with that when I was working there around that time. also great big on the wall designs too. interesting times, silicon on saphire design and the foundry was in colorado springs. I wasnt involved with that, I was the lead in pc test testing and repaining pc boards for the accounting computersw we were building.
