our professor gave us project which is to make power supply. can You give me Idea or design of power supply which is easy to make but at the same time a good one. it should be variable or adjustabe power supply. thank you.;)

You coud start by saying what do you have available and what kind of output you want. Also your level of experience will help us a lot to suggest somehing that suits your level. What kind of class is this for?

this is in our electronics 1 class, Honestly , I don't have any idea at all , .. maybe a power supply 0-30v .
1st class in what kind of school?
You could build something simple like a supply with transformer, bridge rectifier, filter capacitors, LM317 and a few resistors.

first you need to know about component that is used to make power supply
example 230 vac to 12 dc volt
component
transformer
rectifier
capacitor
regulator Ic
capacitor
load

read the datasheet for component

  • LM317 and above series
  • Transformer
  • 2 resistors
  • LED
  • Potentiometer
  • Diode bridge IC or 4 diodes or 2 diodes depending on what Hz you want.
  • High F capacitor which has Voltage rating of at least 10V above you max. voltage.
  • Heatsink
  • Fuse
Display:
  • ICL7106
  • LCD 7-seg display
  • Components required by ICL7106
You could use VU display module in case you don't want to build one.

As someone has concealed how to reply with quote - this will land where it lands!

The suggestion of an LM317 is a good start - to make it a really good one; feed the in terminal with a low value to sense current, the voltage developed is used to drive the B/E junction of a PNP extra pass transistor.

You can get a lot more current rating than just the 317.

Some manufacturers appnotes are the same as various others - some aren't, so it might take a bit of searching around to find a copy of one that explains this method.

Some of the 78xx appnotes also describe it - a read of those is worthwhile too.
