Power Modulation

I am working in a project that requires an electromagnet. The magnet itself will need to modulate strength. I have 15 volts and 3 amps supplied to the magnet. I have an analog signal that can vary from 0 to 10 volts max. My issue is finding an efficient and low cost way to module the power. I've looked into aims, digipots, and opamps. However my knowledge of electronics is limited so selection of which component to use and it the model is difficult. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Also if you have another suggestions on how to modulate the magnet, it would also be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ditch

Do you mean the interval of how often the supply changes?
If so, often, it is used in a throttle body for a drag racer. Basically it powers to maximum and changes to a set number then holds and changes again. Or it will use a while type loop to determine the position slowly. I need the modulation figured out before I can test that far.
