Is It possible to build my own wireless webcam by just using normal webcam and interface with laptop?

How far would it need to transmit? Is this for some home security system?

Within 10 meters. Is it possible? It's for a mini lift project. The cam must be able to show the situation in the lift through wireless.

    Thanks

It is more than possible, but it would make much more sense to buy one. Better and cheaper, can't get better than that, all using off the shelf hardware.

10M is within the range of bluetooth even, not sure if it exists though, but there are definately wireless cams available! This is definitely something you do not want to build yourself!

Just connect the data end of the webcamUSB to a finished RF transmitter.Have its own receiver connected to the Comp.'s usb data pin.

Check out an automobile rear view (backup) monitor system, comes with wireless camera and LCD monitor. Don't know if it will work to 10m.

If you want to use it over WLAN that's not an easy project. Look here:http://www.diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/wifi-cam-complete

You will pay around 35$ for a 2.4GHz camera and receiver on ebay (not Wifi).

You could get a raspberry pi or similar with WIFI, and hook the webcam up to that. It would probably cost around the same as a wireless webcam (they seem pricey for what they are) but then you would have the raspberry pi for future projects.
