Portable HV supply - HV return connection

    Looks like what you have there is a miniature ht generator,the return path for the arc is back to the transformer secondary, which may be isolated if you want.

    actually the return for plasma globes sometimes dosnt exist as a wired connection, the rf generated will be capacitivly coupled through the glass and the body touching the glass acts like a capacitive load. did you ever see a plasma globe you had to hold on to a ground return wire to work? they do work better if you are grounded, but still work ungrounded.

    You might be right on the portable/usb globes.

    On the globes i've tested there was no hv return on the transformer secondary.

    kind of like where is the return path for corona?
