January 27th 2010 in allaboutelectronics.com forum thread "Pole
arrangament in Multi pole induction motors (Newbie question)"

2 Pole motors are as follows, i suppose (* means rotor):

    N
    *
    S

But what about the 4 poles ones, they are

    N
    N*S
    S

    or

    N
    S*S
    N

    ?

(I know induction motors works on AC and their poles switch polarity,
but they have an defined polarity for an given moment at time, wich
i'm represinting in the ASCII-"art" "drawings". Also i'm not
considering the startup winding here, for simplicity).
