Hello all, I have to submit a project proposal tomorrow, please recommend me a good project using a Simple IC not a PIC.

Just one? Probably won't be all that interesting of a project. In what sort of class is this project?

okay, so, again, you are to use a single IC?

i have seen the circuits at 555-timer-circuits.com, but they are not satisfactory.

The thing that will make it a "good" circuit is how much it interests you and we cannot guess what that might be. Counters, LED flashers, communications, digital logic, audio, amplification, power supplies, robotics: All of these things are common here. If you can narrow the focus and describe the requirements, you'll get plenty of good ideas. But your first post is like asking where to go for "good" weather.

How about a frequency counter? or a state machine that implements a combinational lock?

I'm afraid your procrastination will cost you any good ideas...

Might I suggest not asking these questions the day before the project is due? Give yourself time to get a decent answer.

...if only others felt the same, I'd be as rich as SplitInfinity! :p

...on second thought, maybe not quite as rich... :)

I'm guessing you have already settled on a proposal. But if not... I am an Electronic Engineering student and this really simple project caught my eye. Using a 555 timer to create a toy organ/piano. I have built far more complex projects in the past involving PICs etc. but I couldn't believe I had never seen or thought of such a project before. If you want a little more info I have a thread on the topic: Toy Organ. This is an ongoing project of mine and I am working on the final parts of the design. I hope to have it knocked up in a couple of weeks, fully functioning and ready for use.
