It is compatible with 32-bit Vista, however AFAIK it is "not supported" on Vista x64 - what "not supported" means could be one of several things, whether it be that it just doesn't work or that its works but there is no tech support for any issues you may have.

The IDE will probably install and work fine within x64 however your problem will be with any drivers you need.

Might I advise that you contact an Applications Engineer at Microchip and see what they have to say about it; if it still isn't supported they may be able to offer you a work around and perhaps some "un-supported" components.

Let us know how you go on, I'm sure others will be interested in knowing.

I bought me the laptop with Windows vista x64 as the operating system. I installed the Pickit 2 software, MPLAB IDE V8.30, and HI-Tech software. It appears to be working good. I did not have any issues with the installation.
