PIC16F877A oscillator

    Hi guys,

    Does the PIC16F877A works only with external oscillators and not with internal?

    yes, you need external components or clock to run it.

    yes, one alternative is to use a 4-MHz crystal combined with two 22 pf caps between each of its legs and the GND.

    It does have an on-chip RC oscillator but it is used for ADC operation. But the external oscillators (usually 4 - 20MHz) are required for operating the PIC.

    Ok guys thanks. Thats what i realized after i read the datasheet.
