PIC to switch 9V to a 800mW Audio Amp? Which Mosfet?

    It's my understanding that because Mosfets have very low Rds, it makes them ideal candiates for switching higher voltages/currents under PIC control. I have a small audio amplifier IC, that to conserve battery power, I'd like the PIC to control the voltage supply to the IC.

    i'm new to this area of using a PIC to switch power to a load, so really seek a bit of help guidance on a suitable MOSfet.

    My meagre Requirements....

    8.0V thru 9.0 maximum to be switched to the amplifier IC.
    PIC is running 4V supply.
    Maximum power the audio amplifier IC runs at is about 800mW
    Mosfet Must be as small as I can get away with (to give you a flavour, I'm working with 1206 SMD components.
    I'm looking to save power here, so a low RDS is important (pointless putting in a device to save power that wastes more power whe it is swicthed on!
