Pic Kit 2 question

I am going to buy the Pic Kit 2 from MICROCHIP and I was wondering if it came with the ability to switch out PICs using ZIF sockets or if I can only use the Included PIC. Thanks!

Its not like that. Its a stand alone programmer. It can basically program any of MC's pics. You just match the 6 pins on the PK2 to the right pins on the chip. Then you can program breadboards, dev kits, or even make your own ZIF or DIP plugs to program. Perfect programmer to start off with.
