pic and DCmotor protection

    Hi
    the pic 16f876a will have 2 output pins as inputs to the DC motor which is controlled using L293D H-bridge
    what should I connect to protect the pic?​

    Page 2 of the L293D Datasheet shows how the four diodes would be connected. Use fast diodes, such as Schottky diodes. The IC has internal, though they don't seem to be enough in a few cases. I'd suggest adding them as shown in the datasheet linked above.

    You do not need anything between the PIC and the L293D, the protection goes at the source of problems, the motors. The other thing to be sure of is that you do not mix up motor power input with logic power input.
