Hey guys,

This question is confusing me. I can't get the right fundamental period.

My working

T1 = 2∏/ω1 = 2∏/3∏/8 = 16/3
T2 = 2∏/∏/2 = 4

which is the same as the solutions

but when I determine T
T1/T2 = 16/3/4 = 64/3 = k/l
T = kT2 = 64*4 = 256.... which is different to the solutions (T = 12)

what is going on here???

thanks guys :)

ω1 = 7∏/6 (≠3∏/8)

T1 = 2∏/(7∏/6) = 12/7
T2 = 2∏/(∏/2) = 4

T1/T2 = (12/7)/4 = 3/7 = k/l
T = kT2 = 3*4 = 12

ok. Now I know why I was so confused... I copied in the wrong problem...
The one that is confusing me is the same, only it uses 3∏/8, not 7∏/6.

and the solution
Periodic, T1 = 16/4 ,
T2 =4,
Therefore, T =16.

Now, as far as I can see, that can't be right. because T1/T2 = 64/3
Am I missing something

T1/T2 = (16/3)/(4) = 4/3, k = 4
T = kT2 = 16

It looks like you multiplied by 4 in the numerator, instead of in the denominator, when calculating T1/T2.
