I experienced some down time twice.

Is it possible to get some more smiley's in AAC database.
Heres the issue that I know of so far. The DNS to the new site is a little messed up. When pinging the server from a couple miles away the traceroute goes from Tampa > Sweden > Netherlands > Washington DC > Washington DC> Tampa > Tampa So it's taking 150ms to ping 2 miles away because its sending the ping around the world then back. It sometimes takes 72 hours for all the nameservers to get updated so that my be the reason and it may fix itself in a few days.

This is actually an issue with your ISP's DNS server, which may correct itself over time.

If you try changing your DNS to Google's servers: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 or OpenDNS's servers: 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220 - you should get better route.

Hey Rob, Tried Googles servers and OpenDNS and they all send me the same way. Ironically the did shave the time from 150ms to 126ms. I guess we'll just have to wait. To find out if the problem is on my end can some others ping the server and tell me their times? Preferablly someone from the US and EU.

Not sure what all this means, but quick enough from UK to USA.
Embarassingly I have no idea what DNS server I'm using, I'm new to Ubuntu and can't find it.

I know what the name stands for, but I'm not sure what it means for the DNS to propagate. At one point when the AAC site was down I tried the DNS number, and got the message "Hello world" back. I suspect jrap was fighting the noble battle.

Try /etc/resolv.conf

Mine hops directly to level3.net, then to hivelocity.level3.net.

It's cool to be on a backbone link. :D

Try /etc/resolv.conf
That's not it, all that's in there is:
# Generated by NetworkManager
nameserver 192.168.0.1

<ed> I'm an idiot, the router has my DNS settings in it:
212.139.132.42
212.139.132.41
Totally right thatoneguy, thanks.
