is there any body have idea that how to use mplab C 18 compiler for this ic , because it has not any lib or lkr file for this ic and it gives unsupported processor error , is there any other compiler that works with p16f877, please mail me on dipen_238@yahoo.com

 

The C18 compiler (as the name suggests) only works for the PIC18 series of chips. The lack of a free full featured C compiler is one of the big disadvantages of using Microchip products.

My PIC compiler of choice is SourceBoost http://www.sourceboost.com/home.html. Its reasonably priced and produces very efficient code. They also have a free version that is fully functional but limited in the size of program it will compile but it is perfectly adequate for the beginner.
